Poly Lactic Acid (PLA) is an aliphatic polyester and a biodegradable polymer material based on biological materials.
Its source is very down-to-earth - crops such as corn, cassava, sugarcane, straw, etc. are fermented by microorganisms to produce lactic acid, then polymerized into resin, and finally melt spun into fibers.
Skin friendly and healthy weakly acidic skin friendly (pH 6.0~6.5, suitable for sensitive skin and infants); Antibacterial and mite prevention (inhibition rate exceeding 90%); Mold proof and deodorizing (with a water absorption rate of only 0.2% of cotton); Approved by the US FDA as a biodegradable medical material, non-toxic and non allergenic.
Comfortable and lightweight performance (density 1.24-1.29g/cm ³, 18% lighter than cotton and 10% lighter than polyester); Soft drape; Good thermal insulation (thermal conductivity of only 0.0348 W/m ·℃, more than 20% higher than cotton and polyester); Excellent elasticity recovery (5% tensile recovery rate of 93%).
Safety and functional characteristics: Natural flame retardant, soft luster (refractive index 1.4, silk like luster), good dyeing performance (can be boiled at 100 ℃ under normal pressure).
Lactic acid, a biocompatible degradation product, is an endogenous substance in the human body that can participate in metabolism. It has been used in surgical sutures, bone nails, tissue scaffolds, drug release, and other applications.
Polylactic acid is suitable for various processing methods such as blow molding and thermoplastic, with convenient processing and a wide range of applications. It can be used for processing various plastic products from industry to civilian use, packaging food, fast food lunch boxes, non-woven fabrics, industrial and civilian fabrics.
Furthermore, it can be processed into agricultural fabrics, health fabrics, rags, hygiene products, outdoor UV resistant fabrics, tent fabrics, floor mats, and more, with a very promising market prospect.
